I enjoy teaching a wide range of students from children, adults to older individuals with varying levels of familiarity with Spanish. Each student offers a new opportunity to further develop my teaching skills, which is very rewarding for me. My style of teaching children is very engaging, using cartoons and drawings, easy to view over the Internet. I also make frequent use of children’s songs to teach numbers, different fruits, and basic vocabulary. I have considerable experience teaching professionals from multiple health disciplines, such as medical doctors, nurses, psychologists, speech and occupational therapists, as well as business executives, university professors, police officers, firefighters, middle and high school students.
I tailor my teaching to the specific interests, skill level, and learning style of each student. To make Spanish lessons exciting and personally meaningful, I draw on themes from popular literature, recent films and videos, music, as well as sports, religion, and cooking. I also organize group discussions among my students for advanced practice opportunities.
Schedule: My teaching schedule is very flexible, offering classes Monday through Sunday morning, afternoon, or evening.
Teaching Experience: I started teaching Spanish in 1996 and have taught Spanish online via Speak Shop since January 2005. I was voted “Teacher of the Year” in 2006 by my students in Speak Shop.
Education: I have a college degree in Arts and Sciences and a Master's degree in Social Work with a concentration in community development.

“My first lesson was nine months ago. It took me a fair bit of time to pluck up the courage to join, since I was not sure whether my Spanish was up to it. It really was one of the best decisions of my life. My lessons with Aracely have been stimulating, challenging but, most of all, intensely enjoyable and rewarding. It has not only brought my speaking skills on in leaps and bounds but has also given me the courage to use the language when opportunities have arisen. Chatting with a Guatemalan has also opened my eyes to a fascinating culture. I hope one day to be able to visit.”
